How many players have played 200 matches in international men’s football?


Argentina captain Lionel Messi will reach the milestone of 200 caps on Tuesday in Kansas City when his team takes on Algeria.

Messi, who won the 2022 World Cup, becomes the third men’s footballer to play 200 international matches or more, along with Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) and Bader Al-Mutawa (Kuwait).

The 38-year-old Messi, who is playing in his sixth World Cup, has scored 117 goals for his national team.
