Ilgiz Tantashev, referee for the Scotland-Morocco match at the 2026 World Cup, once gave a yellow card to an India player

Ilgiz Tantashev will take charge of the 2026 FIFA World Cup match between Scotland and Morocco in Boston on Friday.

Although the Uzbek national is taking charge of a World Cup match for the first time, he has taken part in high-stakes matches in top competitions such as the AFC Champions League Elite and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Incidentally, Tantashev once officiated a match in the Indian Super League, a semi-final between FC Goa and Chennaiyin FC.

During that match, Tantashev booked Chennaiyin FC goalkeeper Vishal Kaith. He even handed out a red card to FC Goa substitute Savior Gama, who received two yellow cards.

Goa won the match 4-2, but Chennaiyin made it to the final with an aggregate score of 6-5.
