Paraguay defeated Germany 4-3 in penalty shootouts in their Round of 32 match at Boston Stadium to progress to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Heroics from Orlando Gill in the shootouts helped the South American nation dump the four-time champions and reach the round of 16 of the World Cup for the eighth time.
The match finished 1–1 at the end of extra time after Julio Enciso’s goal was canceled out by Kai Havertz.
Gustavo Alfaro’s team will then face the winner of the last 32 matches between France and Sweden.
The eighth final between Paraguay and the European team will take place on Saturday at the Philadelphia Stadium.
